Toshiaki Morimoto founded Morimoto & Associates (referred to as "MORIMOTO" hereinafter) in August 2010 using the expertise he acquired in a pharmaceutical company, Astellas Pharma Inc., and in some patent firms in Tokyo.

MORIMOTO assists clients in legally protecting their intellectual property, particularly patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks. MORIMOTO has members who have ample expertise and are fully trained in advising, drafting, filing, prosecuting, researching, recording, licensing, litigating, and other related activities.

MORIMOTO is in a position to handle the preparation and prosecution of patent, utility model, design, and trademark applications; translation of legal documents from English to Japanese and from Japanese to English; prior art search (including novelty search); and patent search (including infringement). Furthermore, MORIMOTO advises clients on the infringement and validity of intellectual property and provide guidance and assistance in intellectual property litigation.

MORIMOTO collaborates with patent firms in foreign countries such as the United States and those in Europe and Asia to assist Japanese clients in legally protecting their intellectual property, and thus manages the preparation and prosecution of foreign applications, for example, filing patents via the PCT or Paris route.

MORIMOTO specializes in chemistry and biotechnology, especially in life sciences, including pharmaceuticals, food chemistry, and environmental technology. MORIMOTO can communicate with the clients verbally and in writing; in English and Japanese; via email, fax, mail, phone, and Skype.

MORIMOTO is about a ten-minute walk from the Japanese Patent Office in Tokyo which is a capital of Japan.

Regardless of a new patent firm, MORIMOTO has already received many commissions from some Japanese clients, including a medical device company, a pharmaceutical company, an independent administrative institution, and a national university. MORIMOTO will definitely sustain its success with clients not only in Japan but also worldwide.
